These units have been designed as biodiesel centrifuges from the ground up and simply work. There is simply no better way to make quality biodiesel quickly than teaming our biodiesel reactors with these biodiesel centrifuges.   These units are high capacity and are designed to work 24 hours a day for year after year.   They are designed to be affordable as well as efficient.  A great purchase for any biodiesel business, and at the price as cheap as settling tanks, making them a “no brainer” purchase.

 

We have centrifuges suitable for instantaneous and continuous separations in the biodiesel process. Centrifuges are currently being used for:

1. Pre-treatment of Feedstock including: Separation of gums (degumming), solids, water, and soap stock from un-refined vegetable oils, yellow grease, brown grease (trap grease), waste vegetable oil, animal fat, DAF fat recovery, etc.

2. Glycerin Separation: Separation of glycerine from biodiesel to assist meeting ASTM specifications.

3. Waterwash Separation: Separation of water from biodiesel to assist meeting ASTM specifications.

4. Dry Wash Solids Separation: Separation of magnesium silicate or other solids from biodiesel.

These centrifuges are new, and specifically designed for instantaneous and continuous separation of biodiesel/glycerin , as well as pre-treatment separation of water, oil and solids from waste vegetable oils.

New centrifuges are CE-approved, with all stainless steel construction generating over 6,000 x G-force!

Flow rates are available from 2000 L/hr – 100,000 L/hr. Manual clean or automatic self-cleaning machines are available (dependent upon your application).

A centrifuge can be used for instantaneous and continuous separation of the following:

1. Pre-treatment of feedstockto separate solids, water, degumming, and free-fatty acids from feedstock.

2. Glycerin separation. Make ASTM specifications on free glycerin right out of the centrifuge, prior to wet or dry washing.

 


3. Water wash separation.  Separatefree water from the biodiesel.  In some cases, achieve ASTM spec. on moisture without the use of a dryer or evaporator.

4. Dry Wash solids separationto separate magnesium silicate continuously with no filter media to blind, and less labor-intensive.

5. Purification of glycerinfor separation of catalyst/salts and FFA medium.

Centrifuges can immediately increase production output by decreasing production lead times. What takes many hours for gravity to separate down toASTM specifications, a centrifuge can separate Materials instantly in seconds.

How it Works

The Mighty Spinner centrifuge is a highly efficient bypass filtration device.

The pump assisted centrifuge operates at speeds in excess of 6,000 rpm, generating a force more than 2,000 times greater than gravity.

This force extracts solid contaminants from the fluid stream and deposits them on the inner wall of the cleanable rotor as a dense, solid cake.

Centrifuge Operation

1)Dirty oil enters the separation chamber under normal pressure, flowing up through a hollow spindle.

 

2)Oil passes through a spinning rotor where centrifugal force 2,000 times greater than gravity separates contaminants from the oil.

 

3)Contaminants accumulate on the rotor surface as a solid cake.

 

4)Clean oil exits through opposing, twin nozzles that power the centrifuge up to 4,000 rpm.

 

5)Clean oil returns to the sump/reservoir from the level control base.

Mighty Spinner II

Oil Supply to Centrifuge

Oil supplyshould, in general, be taken from the highest pressure, hottest source available immediately downstream of the lube pump.  A 3/8 inch pipe (or #6 hose) supply line should be used. The units supply port is a #6 female SAE O-ring design (9/16-18 straight thread). Preferred pressure is 60 to 80 psig but the Mighty Spinner II centrifuge will operate efficiently at 35 to 90 psig. The idle Cut-Out Valve (COV) allows oil to enter the unit only when supply pressure exceeds 20 psi.

Clean Oil Return to Sump

Gravity Drain.The Mighty Spinner II centrifuge must be close-coupled to the sump with an unrestricted 1inch ID (or #20 hose) drain returning abovethe normal sump oil level. The drain line must be sloped downward from the centrifuge outlet and be free of sharp bends or traps.

Mighty Spinner II centrifugesare highspeed devices and should be securely mounted to prevent excessive vibration. Operation up to 10 or 15 degrees from vertical is  permitted. Further installation guidelines are provided in Mighty Spinner II diagram A1-5154.

Operation

1. Shut off oil supply and allow centrifuge turbine assembly to come to a complete stop.

2. Unscrew cover nut and remove cover assembly.

3. Partially withdraw centrifuge turbine assembly from the housing and allow oil to drain from nozzles before removing completely. Hold the assembly in one hand and remove bowl nut. Carefully separate centrifuge bowl from turbine. Remove stand tube.

4. Carefully remove sludge from centrifuge bowl using a wooden spatula or other non damaging tool.

5. Wipe out bowl with solvent and wash stand tube and other parts.

6. Clean turbine and examine top and bottom bearings for excessive wear. Check turbine nozzles to ensure free passage of oil. Replace centrifuge bowl seal.

7. Seat stand tube in turbine, replace bowl and reassemble centrifuge, tightening the bowl nut securely by hand and making sure that the bowl seal is uniformly seated all around.

8. Examine spindle journals for damage or excessive wear. Replace base assembly if journals are damaged. Spindle is pressed into base and aligned at the factory and cannot be properly serviced in the field. 19. Replace centrifuge turbine assembly on spindle, being careful of bushings. Be sure it rotates freely. 10. Clean and inspect cover, paying special attention to cover-nut assembly. The seal should be replaced if it shows signs of leaking.

11. Examine the base-to-cover seal and replace if damaged.

12. Replace cover assembly and tighten cover nut securely to 8 ft-lbs maximum. Make sure that cover seats on base assembly evenly all around so that cover seal is properly compressed. Check all centrifuge mounting bolts for proper tightness.

13. Open oil supply to centrifuge. With engine running, check all connections and joints for leaks. Repeat assembly if vibration is excessive.
